My apoligies to everyone for the extreme delay in updates, but it's been a busy few weeks in Wildcat County! Our Winter Drumline and Winterguards wrapped up their season at the end of March, and our Performing Arts Department just recently finished its production of "Footloose." Additional exciting news is that the band received Straight Superior Ratings at the Central District MPA on March 23rd!! A huge thanks to everyone who helped us achieve this goal!

On Tuesday, we started our Spring Training for the Fall 2012 marching band season and continue through next week; we hope all our new marchers will join us as we prepare for an exciting upcoming season! Rehearsals and preparations are underway for our Spring Concert, which will be at 7pm on May 22nd and feature some small ensembles, band literature classics, students compositions and the Premiere of a new piece for Band and Electronics by Steven Bryant! Furthermore, fittings for our new uniform jackets are scheduled to begin next week and on May 14th we'll have the final Band Booster meeting of the school year. That night, we'll elect and new Booster Board and I will announce the Fall 2012 Marching Show; we hope to see everyone there!!

If you haven't heard, ER's own Jordan Mower is spinning with the rifle line of the All-American Marching Band in San Antonio, TX this week. He'll be performing the half-time show of the All-American Army Bowl tomorrow, (Jan. 7) sometime between 12-3pm. The game is aired on TV, but the halftime show can only be viewed here. If you can't watch the actual game, the dress rehearsal is tonight from 5-8pm (CST) and can be viewed here. Again, a huge congrats to Mr. Mower and best of luck to him as well as our ER students auditioning for All-District Band tomorrow at Cary HS!

A couple of updates I wanted to share with everyone. Attached HERE is the current calendar for the Winter Drumline / Winterguard season. It's important to note that this is subject to some change, because getting rehearsal space at PGHS is not always easy and we have to be flexible to accommodate that. Mr. Gee and I will do our best to give notice of any changes as soon as we know them (thanks in advance for your patcience!). Secondly, All-District Auditions are this Saturday at Cary HS. We have seventh students participating at various times, so students are responsible for getting to auditions. Students are encouraged to car pool together, but they MUST arrive on time to register on site (I have provided the auditioning students with those times). Finally, RCS/ACS All-County Band auditions are right around the corner: February 2nd at PGHS. Students have already been given information and audition music, but if they need it again it can be found here. Hope to see everyone at our January 10th Booster Meeting at 6pm!

Schedules for tomorrow's and the October 1st competition can be found on th Information Center page. As of right now, the competition at Pinecrest HS tomorrow is still going on as scheduled. If I hear any different, I will be sure to send out an email and AlertNow message. Please remember to continue selling Ads and Trophy Sponsorships until the end of the month, we need all hands on deck helping out with this. Also, look for a payment schedule for the 2012 NYC Trip next week. Students are reminded that they must have a zero balance owed in their account to the band before making payments toward the trip. If you have any questions or concerns about this or anything else, please let me know. I hope to see everyone at Pinecrest tomorrow and next week at Wakefield to cheer on the marching band!!

Hello all! Another extremely successful marching band camp is in the books and the beginning of school is RIGHT around the corner. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and is excited for the school year! As always, there's a lot going on this time of year. Our 2011 production "Sideshow" is off to a great start, with two of the three movements on the field marching band playing (if you were able to attend our Preview Dinner, you saw a terrific performance of this). Please be sure to read the Band Booster Minutes from our recent meeting that Mrs. Hardy emailed to everyone (it is also on the Booster Page), because there was a TON of important information you need to know. Please make note of upcoming dates for uniform fittings, pre-school practices, prop building, trailer cleaning, football games, competitions, etc. As always, these events are also always on the website's Events page. Coming up first, our final "Summer Car Wash" is this Saturday from 10am - 1pm (students arrive at 9:30am) at O’Reilly Auto parts in Siler City; we need as MANY students and parents to come and help us wash cars. Also, please note that we are putting together an order of additional "Sideshow" shirts (short sleeve, long sleeve, sweatshirts, hoodies, zipper hoodies and polos available), so please contact me ASAP if you'd like to order some additional Sideshow SWAG!

The second Fair Share payment was due last Friday, so please be sure you help out the band and pay your Fair Share on time. If you have any issues or concerns with these payments, please contact me or Mrs. Beane directly (every little bit helps). Additionally, if your student ordered band shoes, gloves or additional shirts we need that money ASAP. Another event coming up soon is the final 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on September 9th. We're attempting to contact alumni to come and play during this ceremony with us, and if you're interested at all, pelase contact me (we'd love to have you)! And finally, please note that the rehearsal schedule for the season has been changed to Mondays and Thursdays from 3:30pm - 6:30pm becasue of staff scheduling conflicts. Thanks everyone for a great start to the year, it's going to be one amazing year for the Wildcat Band!!

Happy Independence Day everyone! Please have fun and be safe as you celebrate! Two things to remember this week. If you are planning to come to NightBEAT, you need to let me know before 3pm this Wednesday. Second, we'll be at school on Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:30 till AT LEAST 3pm working on the Band Library. We must finish this week and we still have a way to go. I know it's the summer, but if you can get to ER to help it would really help us finish this task. Thanks, and again Happy 4th Wildcat Band!

June 27, 2011

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer so far, but just a few things to keep in mind over these months. We still have some tickets for the NightBEAT trip on July 31st available. If you're interested, please let me know ASAP so I can get them ordered. We're working at school on the band library over these next two weeks. If you're interested in helping, please contact me; the more help, the better!! You should be out selling ads for the Wildcat Classic program! Remember, if you sell at least $300 of ads, a percentage of your sales goes into your Fair Share account; so please get out there and help!! And finally, be sure that you are practicing your marching band music during the summer. Band camp is about six weeks away, and we're asking that you start having your show music memorized by then. If you need help, please contact your section leader or me. Thanks again for all your hard work, enjoy your summer and keep working to make next year the best we can!!
